Thesis: The church is a single strike force. It must band together, each member doing its designed function in order to strike as one.
Text: 1 Corinthians 12:27 – “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”
Introduction: Corinth was a wild place. It was a cultural crossroads. This city served the Roman Empire as an intersection of trade routes. As such, there was a melting pot of ideas and lifestyles that saturated the culture here. The church wasn’t immune to the influence of the culture. At the time this letter was written, the church in Corinth was likely five years old, or less. There were many divisions and factions that had developed in the Corinthian church. This morning, we are going to dive into this chapter to understand the concept of diversity of gifts and the designed unity of their application inside the body, also known as the church. Let’s read our thesis statement one more time: “Now YOU are the BODY of CHRIST, and each one of YOU ARE a part of it.”
